Market Manager Africa | Wines of South Africa

After 9 years of travelling the world as a flight steward at South Africa Airways, Matome studied International Trade Relations Management and worked as an export consultant at ABSA International Trade Bureau assisting South African businesses gain access to the African continent. Matome joined Wines of South Africa in 2008 as Market Manager for Americas & Africa, where he has brought passion for advancing the visibility and presence of South African wine in USA, Canada and emerging markets. He is also responsible for assisting the advancement of emerging previously disadvantaged businesses within the wine industry. In 2014 the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries appointed Matome as chairman of the Wine and Spirit Board making him the first black chairman selected from within industry ranks. Matome present lectures on wine marketing in emerging markets to Wine Business Management students at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town. Matome was one of the speakers at the inaugural Business of Wine & Food Tourism Conference held at Spier Wine Farm in South Africa on 1 and 2 November 2016.
